About the Author: Benedict Hurst
Born beneath the weathered spires of York, Benedict Hurst grew up sketching cathedrals and crafting stories in the margins of his schoolbooks. Before turning to fiction, he spent years as a restoration architect, breathing new life into crumbling chapels across Europe—experiences that would later inspire his intricate, emotionally resonant historical narratives.
A lifelong lover of medieval lore and the unspoken drama of stonework, Hurst combines an architect’s eye with a storyteller’s heart. His writing echoes with the tension between permanence and impermanence, reflecting the fragile ambitions of humanity against the backdrop of enduring history.
When he’s not writing, Benedict can be found wandering flea markets for forgotten maps, cooking rustic stews, or sketching ruins in ink and coffee. He lives in an ivy-clad cottage in with his dog Marlowe and a dangerously leaning bookshelf.
The Changing Times is his debut novel—a labor of love that took a decade, three rewrites, and one near-collapse of a library floor to complete.
